Why I Built This
As a child born with a congenital heart condition, I sometimes had sudden chest pain. It was frighteningโI didnโt know what was wrong, and I had no one to ask. I often wished a doctor could be right there beside me, ready to listen and help. That simple wish stayed with me and slowly grew into something more: a dream of connecting patients and doctors across time and distance.
I became a doctor, hoping to explore that dream more deeply. I even pursued graduate studies to learn more. But the academic path didnโt bring me closer to a practical solution. So at 30, I left school and started a company.
It was 2010, right in the middle of the smartphone revolution. I built a mobile app that connected doctors and patients. People showed interest, but not quite in the way I expected. Most wanted advice on skincare or beautyโnot critical medical guidance. In the end, I chose to close the business and return to where I needed to grow most: clinical care.
I trained again, this time at the National Medical Center in Seoul. Meeting patients face-to-face reminded me why medicine matters. I also began sharing thoughts and reviews online, experimenting with ideas that could improve healthcare communication.
After becoming a board-certified surgeon, I joined a public health center. I wanted to work in the field of community health and create easy-to-understand health content for the public. Meanwhile, the world changed around me. AI was no longer just theoryโit became something we could actually use.
Thatโs when my childhood dream resurfaced, this time with new tools.
I didnโt build a standalone AI. I built a tool that helps people talk to AI in a way that makes sense. It guides patients to describe their symptoms clearly, even if they donโt know medical terms. With better prompts, ChatGPT can offer more trustworthy and helpful responses.
My goal isn’t to replace doctorsโbut to help people feel heard and understood, and get closer to the help they need.
This tool is small, but I hope it makes a real difference. Just like I once longed for a doctor who could be there for me, I hope this service can be here for you.
